Default Late Reports From Last Two Trips

Went out Friday a week ago with Scott (Spot77) we trolled for about 2 hours and had nothing to show but one striper from a captain john spreader...

We were trolling through Belvedere and the channel north of the bridge (where that has been reported catches lately)...

We decided to pull up the gear, break out the ultra lights and do some shallow water "bottom fishing"...Scott broke out the super duper and I went old fashioned 1/4 oz sinker and fishbites bloodworms....We easily caught over 100 fish in the shallows...Pulled in a number of good sized perch and croaker as well as more spot than we could have ever used...Croaker seem to be here in numbers much later than in past years...

All in all a good day and worth the time out on the water....

A couple of days later I headed out for an hour and a half or so with my youngest son to let him have some fun catching fish on the last day of summer vacation...Headed out an hour before sunset to try to get the late evening striper bite...Tried a number of the usual spots that we hit and got nothing....Went back to the ultra lights for him and cuaght a few dozen of the same croaker, spot, and perch that I had gotten a few days before...Was hoping to get some rockfish, but settled for one happy 11 year old instead...(Think I will take the happy 11 year old over the fish any day of the year...)

Hope all are still catching....

Mike

Those perch are great eating. Glad you did well with them. There are still croakers in the mouth of the South River if anyone is interested. We got a few on an ouster bar near the #4, but they were kind of small (up to 10").
