Default The 2012 Beachwood Park Thread

Was at Beachwood Park for about an hour today...Threw a few different artificials with no luck...

I did see one guy bring in two YP while I was there...One was on the smaller side, the other was a good 13" though....

Of course they were caught on minnows, bobbers at about 1.5 to 2'...Right off the concrete slab by the pilings...

Hope tomorrow brings me better luck.

Were you there this afternoon? I was taking my daughter and her friend to the batting cages on Mountain Rd and drove right by Beechwood......saw a few vehicles there around 3:00 or 3:30. I wish I could've stopped for a few minutes.

While I still love panfishing, I too look forward to something more than small slimy sunfish. Even my son gets easily tired of catching small to medium White Perch now after putting him on a few nice Rockfish last year.

Mike and I hit Beachwood today from for about 2 hours from 11:?? to 1:30

When I got there, there was 7 or 8 vehicles there. As one fella left I inquird how he did. He said he'd caught nothing but was there only a short time. said he saw some Bluegill caught and one monster White Perch.

After about 10 minutes I caught my first fish; a skinny 12" Pickerel. At least I got the skunk off my back.

Next came a small Bluegill, full of color. They are really pretty, regardless of their size.

Finally, a Yellow Perch!!! Certainly no world record (ok, not even a keepr sized fish) but what the hell.... I was catching fish and none of the other 5 or 6 people still left were catching anything.

I was floating a 1/16th ounce chartreuse jighead under a bobber with a grass shrimp on it for all 3 fish. The fish never hit when the bobberwas still; I had to retrieve and pause, or give it a few twitches to get the fish interested.

We caught the end of an incoming tide and once the tide stopped moving...well you know what happens. The temp also dropped about ten degrees as the clouds rolled in.

Love it! That means I can bust out my favorite Beetlespins soon!

There's a point in the spring/early summer where the WP get so stupid they'll bite just about anything.

By the way, I found out that there's a big clean up event scheduled at Beachwood Park this Saturday at 10am. Probably won't affect the fishing much but parking might be a big issue.
