Bucktails vs parachutes

What are you using for Fall trolling, bucktails or parachutes?

Joe; once the big fish get here (I hope), I use parachutes. Nothing wrong with bucktails, they work fine. However, I find that white bucktails get stained from the water even after one day of being dunked

The synthetic hair on parachutes combs out clean every day. Spray a little cheap detangler on them and they comb out easy.

I still carry some bucktails on the boat in case I lose a chute and I need something the same weight, I may substitute the bucktail.

When looking for smaller fish <28 inches, bucktails with twister tails are the way to roll. Use a mix of small bucktails, small spoons, and storm shads.

But why ask us; you have been on fire lately; I should be pointers from you

Just be sure to mix things up, we were out the other day with a lot of the same stuff in the water, and I believe we would have done better if we had a mix of lures and colors.

Marty, you answered my real questin, my whites aren't looking too white... I always try to use a variety of lures. I believe I am having an awesome streak of beginners luck. But, as I have stated before, I owe it to reading a lot of posts by others. I have to say, much of my success is from paying more attention to "how" and not so much to the "where".

Joe,
Don't overlook "naked shads" I have been using 6" tsunami golden mullet threaded on a 1 1/4oz Spankin Striper jig head with big glass eyes. They have caught some of the larger fish this summer as well as some big spring time fish. You can use them stand alone or they are also deadly on a stormbrella run deep. You can order the tsunamis in a 25 pack for about $28.00. Cheaper than pre- rigged baits.
