Default I HOPE I just wasted my money

After the tragedy last weekend on the Potomac, as we were running home from Coconut Charlie's yesterday without another boat in sight, I decided to make a "ditch bag". I just ordered the following:

Dry bag
USCG approved battery powered flare
Waterproof hand held VHF
ResQLink beacon locator
Whistle
Signal mirror
25' parachute cord
Small knife
8 Mylar emergency blankets (highly reflective and warm)
Floating fist aid kit
Locking Carabiners to keep everything together
Waterproof flashlight
Cigarette Lighter
I plan to add a few protein bars and a bottle of Fireball as well. (Or water)

Based on being only in the bay, I'm pretty sure I'm covered. What am I forgetting?? I am NOWHERE near as tough as the survivor from last weekend and hope that I have everything needed for a speedy rescue.

I pray this was a huge waste of money and it NEVER gets used. (Kinda like my treadmill ). And yes, of coarse the locator will go on Margaret not me. #myfriendsarejerks

Before buying locators epirb or other elestronic life safety item please let me know . I have a very good business relationship with the McMurdo group and can get these items at a substantial savings. Go to their website make a list of gadgets you would like and I'll get you pricing. I know what you mean about never using. My wife still gets on me about the fire extinguisher I purchased and still to this day have never used!

Hopefully people here get their stuff through BOE Marine, who owns and operates this site

Strobe lights on life jackets. Friends that have been part of air searches claim that is crucial.
