Default Wednesday - Wind, birds and shorts

Got off to a windy start but managed to find pleanty of birds from the Brewerton south. Jigged metal (1 OZ to 1 1/2 OZ) most of the day and caught a bunch of blues and short rock. Trolled spoonbars with same results.

I ran a charter yesterday for a dad and his two young kids. Morning sustained winds of 18kn according to TPL limited where we fished. After tucking in behind some land masses and points, We caught a bunch of fish on top water plugs, which the boys seemed to love (fun watching the fish strike). However we could only squeeze Rockfish to just under 20". The went home with bluefish though.

Out today with Capt John and it was a SLOW start. Ran south as usual and put only a couple of blues in the cooler. Searched and searched from Deale south until I got a text from Jason (Rockin Robin) that he had breaking fish under birds north of us (Thanks Jason)
We picked up rods and ran to what we were searching for; decent size hungry blues

We put 50 in the cooler trolling, and I convinced John to let us jig up the last 10

John cooked up some for us to end the day.

Just a couple of weeks ago I caught my largest red drum; today I caught my largest bluefish in quite some time (24 inches).

Now come on Marty, from what end of that crazy ruler of Capt. Johns did you measure that fish from?

Wow, if you caught that jigging I bet it felt like a freight train!!! But so Marty doesn't high jack Bruce's thread, great job bhl, thanks for the report from OUR neck of the woods.

Looks like a wet and windy weekend ahead.
