Default Podickery 8/30

Fished today, my two kids were the crew which makes it a great day!

Have not seen a Spot off the pier this year, so we decided to pull the trolling gear out.

Left the dock about 11:30, home by 3:30. Nonstop action, we caught a few keeper rockfish, a few shorts and we snagged at least seven Rays. I have been trolling in the same area for years and have never snagged a Ray.

Anyone have any idea why the beasties came after me today? Are they thick around podickery this year?

Think the rays are hanging around waiting to say hello to a scuba diver.

Seriously - they like the strong current in that area. Cownose rays have to swim to push water over their gills ( like most sharks ).

In strong current - they can hover in place , current pushes water over their gills.
