Default Great day 5/21

My buddy was down from Hancock this week for a VA hospital visit. He wanted to catch his first rock of the season.
I only had a few hours available today, so we hit the water at noon. I ran from Bodkin Creek below the bridge and set up my spread just northeast of Hacketts.

I have been having a lot of success trolling 5 rods off each planer. I've been using small umbrellas with six inch baits and Capt. Johns spoons on spreader bars. I start the farthest line out 12 bars. I drop 2 bars and do 10, 8, and 6, also. No added weight The longest lines have been most successful.

Today, I ran no boat rods. This left the back of the boat completely open to bring in fish.

We headed for the green can and picked up an over (32) and an under (24) on the first pass. We ran in to 30 ft and swung back out to deeper water. Had another big fish on, but lost it on the way in

The tide stopped and so did the bite. That's ok, I spent time dodging sailboats coming out of the Severn. WTF, why do they even put a wheel on those boats

I'm traveling at 3.2 mph. They are racing along at about 8mph, and they can't make a MINOR adjustment to their course so we don't have to get into a shouting match. I'm a pretty laid back guy, but after I made a significant course change to keep my boards alive; the sailboater yells at me. I lost it and told him how his lineage was suspect

I got back to fishing and we picked up another over and five more unders (about 25 inches).

I wore my friends arm out. He asked if I had a belt, so I told him I have one, but I only bring it when we have women or children anglers onboard

Ended the day with two overs and two real nice unders.

Back at the dock by 5, and home in the shower by 6

I gave him the cooler and all the fish to take back to Hancock.
5th

P.S. even those tiny 4 inch "spinning" umbrellas are working with a six inch bait.
