I didnt fish this weekend due to the winds Sat and Sunday but today we took friends to Rockhall for lunch at Watermens. Upon launching I got the full inspection by DNR again. This time I was actually given a decal to put on my boat. While I dont mind getting inspected, we were pressed for time because my buddy had to leave to go back to Norfolk today. I wasnt super friendly with the inspector but he was friendly and hurried up for us. Hopefully the decal will slow down the inspections

SPSP or local ramp?
They were checking for licences at the Cape fishing pier yesterday.

SPSP. We went to the community ramp first but with the low water and short ramp I feared not being able to get the boat back on the trailer. I am a little long for the community ramp unless the water is up. We had blow out tides this weekend.

If you frequent the ramps where DNR does the most checking, you can expect to be checked. Tell them to hit the ramps and waterways over here. They need it bad.

Bfaithful- You must be a shady look person... How many times have you been checked this year alone? DNR must be wise to your fuddy duddy, family style boat being a great cover for your shenanigans.
Two weeks ago I was trolling solo with boards out, when a young DNR lady pulled up beside me (forward of the boards) and asked to see a life jacket and fire extinguisher. After I showed them to her, she moved on to the next boat. I'm grateful she had enough sense to not ask to have everything brought in so she could do a full check.

LOL Mark. My wife said he skipped over several piers to get to us skipping the boats that looked to be not well cared for (less likely to have safety gear) or the passengers to be drunks. She thinks he saw us as an opportunity for and easy inspection without confrontation..
I wish they would just give every capt a brethalizer when they came in
Got my sticker now so we are all good!

NRP were at the mouth of Deep Creek on the Magothy last night around 7:30. Seemed to be mostly interested in jet skiiers.
He eventually escorted a group of about 4 of them back to the boat ramp. Not sure why.

At about 1:30 pm on Monday May 27th (Menorial Day) near the green #1 at the Rhode/West, I turned around to see a Maryland DNR police boat approaching. “Hey Kate, I think that we’re getting pulled over!” I exclaimed as the patrol boat slowed and pulled alongside. The crew could obviously see that we had a current fishing license for the boat, and one of the officers asked us if we had any luck fishing. We told them of our success, and informed them that our catch was alive in our live well.
The officers motioned as if to show them our catch, so we invited them aboard to check. One of the officers came aboard, checked the live well to his satisfaction, and then proceeded to give us a safety inspection. We passed with flying colors, and the two officers were soon on their way. Before they left, I told them to catch the guys setting the illegal nets measuring in miles. It was good to see that the DNR was out enforcing the regulations; if we had more of that, the fish stocks might not be as decimated as they are.

USCG stopped me at SPSP today wanting to do a safety inspection.. I handed them the NRP inspection slip from memorial day and they didn't take any more of my time.
