I woke this morning at 4:20 am, looked out the back window at the boat and thought, its the last day of the Rockfish season.

I then got ready and headed to the airport for a work trip.

Congrats on a great day and nice wrap to the season...

Well, after the Dover Bridge challenge Saturday, I woke up today, made a call or two, and headed south in the JUSTIFIED. 3.5 hours and 49.4 gallons of fuel from Tolchester to Denton. . That is approximately a 90nm trip, not bad!

Perfect conditions today. Saw fishermen, skipjacks, oyster boats- patent tongs and hand tongs, ducks, geese, bald eagles, beautiful homes, you name it. Didn't even have a fishing rod on the boat so I wouldn't get distracted. Damn that upper Chotank is tricky!! Now she is back to her birthplace for the winter. Soooo sad!

Very happy my friends were able to smack 'em down south. Well done men!!!

I first checked with Don (Hunter) to try to get his a$$ out in the cold but he had too much to do. I even told him i was going to run the heater, but that didn't sway him.

Is your boat "layer up" for the winter? Shrink wrapped?

It definitely was a good day to finish out the season. Couldn't have asked for better weather in the middle of December. I had fished with Jim a few times this spring, so I really wanted to take him on my boat before the season ended to return the favor. We planned a couple of trips this fall that never panned out due to bad weather or family obligations, so I was happy we could finally make it happen. I've always been big into trolling but recently I started jigging and like it a lot. I thought I was pretty decent at it but damn, Jim skooled my ass yesterday I had never heard of garlic scent and the term "hotrodding" doesn't seem to go with fishing, does it? I guess I have a lot to learn about jigging

Thanks again Marty great trip and Jason nice meeting you and looking forward to next year . Just dropped my boat off for winterization so as soon as I get it back I'm ready for the snow so I can rack up some more comp time to take off next year.
