Still sounds like a fun day, despite a few minor setbacks.

I've fished from a kayak once a few months ago. In fact, that was the only time I was ever in a kayak. I was a little nervous at first, but after about 10 minutes of paddling and realizing that I wouldn't tip over nearly as easily as I thought I would, I fell into my groove and had no problem casting or catching the White Perch we were after.

I think chasing Rockfish would be a much bigger challenge, obviously. Bigger water, bigger rod, more gear, more paddling to get to a good spot, bigger fish to fight and try to get on board or release. Sounds like fun. Maybe next year.

it was fun but i think my karma was off or something.

i like your comments and i thought the same things as you re catching rock by yak. prior to taking it on.

but there's actually some real advantages and different way of thinking/tactics sort of clicks in. and i've had more than my share of keepers and enjoyment of the fishin' in a short amount of yak time.
