Happy new year to all! Winter doesn’t slow down the hard-core anglers of the DC Metro MSSA. Rockfish are still being caught, BFT are off the coast of VA and the Yellow Perch are thinking about congregating in the upper upper bay.

Join us on Wednesday January 9 for our first annual DCMSSA Swap Meet 7:30pm at Steamers in Bethesda. Bring any new or used fishing or boating gear with you to sell or trade with others in attendance. Don’t be shy. Bring reels, rods, lures, hooks, lure parts, spare propellers, dock lines, gaffs, nets, books… Anything fishing or boating related that you would be willing to sell or trade. This will be a fun event and a great way to convert gear that you are not using into gear that you always wished you had. There will be no professional vendors set up at this event, just club members looking to Buy/Sell/Trade. Bring your friends. All are welcome. We will also be treated to a brief presentation by Steve Fogle of Backyard Custom Rods during the swap meet. Steve will be telling us why rod selection is important and how choosing the proper rod can help you catch more fish.

We will also be introducing our 2013 Kid’s Day Raffle at the Jan 9 Swap Meet. Tickets are $10 each. Max of 300 tickets will be sold. Proceeds will fund the 2013 DCMSSA Kid’s Day. The prize this year will be fantastic and includes:
Pre-paid trip for four with Walleye Pete on his beautiful 27’ Judge,
Two (2) St Croix light tackle jigging rods
Two (2) Shimano Stradic light tackle spinning reels
Two (2) Jigging tackle packs including jigs, plastics, topwater plugs etc.
Two (2) St Croix hats so you can claim you are sponsored.

Kid’s day is the signature event of the DCMSSA. Please go out of your way to support the raffle and the Kid’s day event.

Also, Many of us are planning to attend the Frederick MSSA Fishing Expo Saturday January 19 8am – 4:30pm at 797 E Patrick St Building 9 Frederick MD 21705. I have attended this event for the last few years and it is fantastic. Stock up. Attend seminars. Eat oysters. What more can you ask of a Saturday. Find someone to car-pool with at the Swap Meet.
