Lost a friend
Found out today that a fishing buddy of mine lost his fight with cancer. He's been fighting this for quite a while. He underwent chemo. and it kept his tumor in check. After chemo., the tumor grew again and he passed in his own home with family by his side.
We all had fun fishing with him. Russell was the kind of guy that would join in with our good natured kidding. If he was on your boat and you didn't put fish in the boat in ten to fifteen minutes; you could count on him to question the location you were set up on. We kept telling him, wait until the sun hits the tree line (just before sunset). As the fishing improved, he would say, "you might just know what you're doing". He loved catching hardhead and rock on Belvedere with us in the evening.
The last time I was at his house, we talked fishing and golf for quite a time. I didn't know he was a "scratch" golfer, but his garage was full of golf equipment.
He will be missed by many; what more can you say. Rest In Peace my friend.
