Default Hate to Hear These Things - Body Found in the Potomac

http://www.foxbaltimore.com/newsroom...id_11113.shtml

Duck hunter dies after his boat capsizes. No word on whether he was wearing his pfd or not. Victim was 30 years old, and his 56 year old hunting partner survived.

Obviously it's smart to wear your pfd all the time, but even more so when it's so frigging cold out.

i've finally taken to wearing one if i'm alone on the boat or with just my daughter.

same thing with the dead man on the ignition. i have almost 20' line on it that lets me walk anywhere on the boat. i pulled it by accident a couple times at first but i've become better about that and it hasn't happened lately.

i used a piece of hi-tech line (sailing gear) and a carabiner. it's very strong, hi-vis red, sm diameter, and very limp/no memory.

Inflatable suspenders are the way to go. You don't know you have them on.

This time of year if you fall over, you won't be found until spring, unless you do wear one.

Saw on the news - a recovery team was searching one of the reservoirs in Md using side scan.

Worker fell into the water - empty boat was found but not the guy.

Just to add one more morbid tale - report of a capsized boat near Sandy Point around 3:00 today. One person missing - in these water temps , that is very bad news.

I was in downtown Annapolis right at 3pm when the county's marine emergency unit came flying through the circle towing their inflatable. I was on a big charter boat about 10 minutes later and the vhf was on fire with chatter.
