Reds, I think you misinterpreted my post. I'm not trying to prove or disprove any of the "official" reports. My question goes to the fact that IF the population is smaller than it was 5 years ago (and I think it is) than maybe that's why some people are complaining about not catching this year.
I know 5 years ago, I couldn't get my full spread out before having my limit (trophy season).
Since they get hammered EVERYWHERE they go along the coast, I'm hoping the yoy index can keep up with the harvest.

You are correct, lots of 22- 25 inch fish in the midday. Last year, there was a ton of undersized fish, I hope these are the 17 inch guys from last year that have grown up
