Steve; I keep taking off the "bromsticks"; then putting them back on the boat. Agree; time to put them away until fall. I don't do much jigging because I see most people using the "Kimbro" method. I have tennis elbow that just will not go away. It is acceptable and doesn't bother me too much except when I try to lift something heavy over the bed of my truck, or jig for fish for several hours.
I was glad to see "uncljohn" write that there is another method where you don't have to be so pronounced in your "snapping" of the rod. This is what I might try. I'll try on some areas where I know some smaller fish usually hide and see how I do.
