Default 8/17- Good cause but no fish

Fished the Poorgirl's Open in OC yesterday. 6 lady anglers and 2 guys as capt and mate. Blowing from the ENE at close to 20knots. 3-6' and I have never seen them stacked like yesterday. The morning started off with 9 sec between waves and by 2:00 it was 4secs. That is a big difference! Some other bigger boats turned around after maybe 15 miles, but we trudged on. We were fishing a 34' Judge Express and she really handled great. We didn't set any speed records but were able to run at a comfortable 20knots. Went to the Washington Canyon and never had a bite. We were far from alone as there were about 30 other boats there and we saw 1 fish hooked up in a couple hours. Trolled away from the pack and still caught nothing but at least got us closer to home. Picked up at 2:00 and no one complained about how rough it was nor was anyone sick. I know a handful or men that would have turned tail WELL before these girls did.

The Poorgirl's is to raise money for breast cancer and they did that. The fishing didn't seem too hot looking at the flags flying (or lack there of). We did fly 6 bras/bikini tops coming in to represent the cause tho!!

Back at the fuel dock, the DNR checked the boat's paperwork and asked about fish but unfortunately there was nothing there to check. Regardless, a great time was had by all!

Correction- Apparently the rest of the crew feels the seas were 5-6' with many 6-8' and a few 10' mixed in. Just 'cause all but the tower of the 60' next to you disappears between waves, doesn't mean it was rough....
