Report 4/20 South of the Bridge

Left SP late, 8:00, as one of the crew wanted to sleep in. Looked for Skip to follow him around and pick up his scraps, but didn't realized until later we had crossed paths. Anyway, we went back to where we left off Monday looking for Bubba that my neighbor lost, got finished setting lines in and had to reset one, because we had a fish on. 36" hit a white/flash 3oz solo 100 ft off the board. Too many boats coming into the area so we headed south, got down around 87/88, a lot of boats around 88 so went over toward 87, no boats. Noticed fish were deep, 50 ft, so lowered the down rigger down to 50 turned around and bam it was hit, my other neighbors first rockfish was on. 34" on a 3oz black head/flash/white hair and shad/white umb/downrigger set deep. Bent radar was in high alert, must have been slow, too many boats converged upon us so we headed north. Zig zagging 50ft to 100ft off Matapeake I commented "we just hit that fish over the head with the downrigger ball", rod bends, must have pissed off that fish for hitting him in the head. 34" hit chartruese 3oz BFG bucktail/chartruese umb/downrigger set at 30ft. Crew called it quits with a limit, wanted to get some lunch. Only the one fish hit a board rod others were on the downriggers deep. Marked a lot of fish 40 to 50 ft down and there was a lot of grass in the water, had to clean lines several times.
