Metal jigging upper bay

Took two of my friends out this morning. Left the dock at 7:30am and went looking for birds. Found birds flying but they were all high and stretched out for 2 miles north and south of the Brewerton Channel. Found some fish on the depthfinder and we started to catch fish jigging with 3/4oz Hopkins Shortys. We caught fish steadily for the next 3 hours and most were 18" and better fish. We filled our limit with 2 30" fish and 4 fish 22-25" in 2 hours. Released many keeper fish. SOOOO, keep an eye to the sky and keep another eye on the fish finder because the birds were very loose and not knotted up.

Damn retired guys!! I was hoping to work this morning in Norfolk and then be headed home by lunchtime in time to get out for the 4-dark bite. I pulled in the driveway from Norfolk at 8:30pm!! And to really rub saltwater in the wound, the water was a sheet of glass crossing the CBBT and it was 80* and sunny at 4pm.

Nice job finding your buddies some quality fish close to home.

Thanks for the report. I have a trip on Saturday and I am almost afraid to fish where I was in the eastern bay area. Between charters, recs and H&Liners the fish are getting more and more scattered for light tackle jigging. I was late to the game yesterday checking other areas but we still had fish to 33". Had to move fast and find them though..
