Time to take down the Christmas tree
I've done my last trolling trip until fall. I'll wash, wax and paint the boat and put it in the slip for the summer. I'll pull the trolling rods off the boat and replace them with my bait, livelinning, and jigging rods.
These rods have been stored in my mancave on a rod rack from BPS. I had the rods arranged with the tallest in the center and stepping down to the shortest. Just before Christmas, I strung some lights on them and made a "Christmas Tree" out of the rods. While watching TV, they give off just the right amount of light in the room. Looks like I need to wrap up the lights and get ready for some med/heavy 6'6" rod action. Guess that means the tinsel has to come off the phesant, grouse, quail, and rockfish in the room as well:D. Tomorrow looks like a good day to respool some reels. 5th (Marty) |
Thanks for the reminder Marty. I have to take the sleigh bells off my deer! Or just leave them:rolleyes: The way life is moving along.....Christmas ain't that far off:eek:I hope light tackle and live lining is more productive than Spring trolling..............Gary

Well; actually they are bait and livelinning rods with jigs on them. But hell, I've been reading so much this spring about people "fishing" instead of trolling, I thought I'd give it a try. If you see me running up on a beehive at wot and leaving the motor run while drifting through a school of fish; wave to me. But, please use all your fingers. This fall, all the warm water discharges and rips should be full of "NEW" jiggers like myself. Those areas are certainly big enough for 20-30 boats, right? Between DNR, the jiggers on TF, and Tom Hughs all promoting "one man; one rod", it might get a bit crowded on some of the better spots. Guess it will look like some of those areas when the drum are biting. I got me some 10 inch BKD's and 1 ounce jigheads to cast them as far as I can throw them. If you're in a boat close to me, be on sharp lookout. Dragging lines behind the boat didn't work too well for me, so now I have to learn the proper way to fish. I would try flyfishing, but I don't want to have to shave and press my pants before each fishing trip:D. 5th (Marty) |
