Sandy - How you all doing

I live near BWI Airport in AA County. My back yard looks like a pond:eek:. I have a big tree in my back yard (sycamore) and the wind is blowing it toward my residence:eek::eek:.

When the wind kicks up (gusts); my butt puckers.

I'm glad we will be on the backside of the storm; not the front side.

Obviously, my power is still on or the computer goes down with no WIFI.

My boats are both outside my front door and seem to be riding the winds ok on the trailers.

The sump pumps (two) in the basement are running constantly.

All in all; so far so good. The extention cords from the generator are run from the garage (free standing away from the house) into the basement and are ready if power goes out.

How are others doing?

Things are just starting to get dicey here in western Howard County. Just saw where Sandy's projected path has moved south a bit to run along the Md-Pa line just north of me (actually right through Mlag's backyard:eek:). It is going to be a long agonizing night. Hopefully the power stays on for as long as possible but no way we won't lose it sometime tonight. Generator is in place, tested and ready. Hope everyone stays safe...good luck!:(

Just checked the boat...So far, so good....knock on wood...like Don says...Will be a long night...Gusts are really bad, rain is really coming down....Only good part is the winds still seem to be pushing the water out of the bay....High tide was only a little above normal...Hoping the AM tide is not bad...

Strong wind gusts seem to be increasing in frequency and streanth. I can't believe I still have power:).

Looks like a long night here as well.

At this time, the wind is moderate, but the water is rising at South River. I just checked and the water is up to, but has not covered the piers.

So far, so good. I'll check again at light, and if it gets a foot over piers (and I have electric), I'll post again.

Some piers are underwater and some just above. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the crest has already occurred (since previous post). Local news is predicting tides to remain high today due to south wind and runoff within the watershed.

9:00 am Tuesday - We had some wild winds last night. Trees were dancing. Lost power twice but only for about 30 seconds each time.

Lots of pieces of leaves and small branches but over all - nothing like was feared.

Kudos to Pepco.. We lost power in Moco County for about four hours total. Had Cable thou, have generator, so my Family Guy marathon was only briefly interrupted.

Once the winds shifted away from the North, my "pucker factor" eased considerable. I too have a pair of trees, that worry the **** out of me, when the wind is howling from the North...

Tuesday, 4:00PM all's back to normal, cords and gen put away for another day...

Neighbors mildly pissed/jealous that I had TV and lights.. It took me 15 years to realize the value of a generator. Its the very best $800 I've ever spent.

For those who don't own one... JUST DO IT.. Make it a birthday gift, or a Christmas present. You will not get, a better return, on any investment:)

There's some advantages to not having electricity :D:D
