Round planer board line

Every time I hit one of the HD or Lowes stores, I look to see if they have any round weedwacker line in the .095 thickness. I had found small spools (40ft) in the .095 or larger spools in the smaller .80 size.

Today, I was in Lowes (Glen Burnie) and found .095 size in spools of 280ft:).
It is not orange colored, but who cares. It is gray and distributed by Husquvarna and called Titanium Force Premium Trimmer Line. It's made in USA:D and cost the same as the dimond orange stuff.

I just thought I would pass the info along. I picked up a spool, even though I only plan on jigging this year:rolleyes:.

Bowen's in annapolis (Riva Rd, immediately on the right as you exit from 665) normally carries the bigger spools of the thick stuff too.

Made in USA is a BIG plus though....not sure about the stuff they carry.

400lb mono stretches less and is stronger. I switched to it and am happy. (I use "outrigger line") It does have more memory than weedwacker line though.

It may be more expensive upfront but I think I can get more time out of it so it will be cheaper in the long run. You can buy it in 50 yard lengths or 100 yard lengths. I pull 100' lines

100 ft lines; you sissy:D. The spool of 280 ft is just right for me. Cut it in half and I have 140 per side:eek:. I hope it streaches and I get 150 per side:rolleyes:.

Anyone know where I can get a small strobe light to put on my board flags:).

In all honesty, 100-125 ft is plenty.

140 - you bleeding pu$$y.

280 is just right - per side :D

I've never had any trouble with the serrated weed wacker line- in fact , I prefer it over smooth.

The clips tend to stay in position better as they grip the line slightly.

280' per side should be perfect for you 6 rod pre season setup.

Mine are actually closer to 110' and I dont want to go any longer. I like the manuverability I have with my current length. I can turn and circle bait much tighter than I could without the boards. I now run 9-15 rods regularly where I used to run a 9 rod boatrod spread without the boards

Not that I have much experience to speak of such things, but I found that 15 rod spread we put out a few weeks ago quite managable and you didn't seem to have any trouble at all turning tight when you wanted to.
