Offshore this weekend?
Think the forecast will improve or degrade between now and this weekend? Were looking to do an overnight Tuna/Sword/Tuna out at the canyons (probably Washington).
FRI WINDS BECOMING E TO SE 10 TO 15 KT. SEAS 3 TO 5 FT. SAT E TO SE WINDS 10 TO 20 KT...HIGHEST S. SEAS 3 TO 5 FT. SUN E TO SE WINDS 10 TO 20 KT...HIGHEST S. SEAS 4 TO 6 FT. |
With all of the great comments and guidance from the forum here we did go out. 1 YFT, 450# blue marlin Saturday at the Washington, Not even a pull overnight with shark and sword rigs east of the canyon, 1 white, 1 mahi Sunday at 461 and inside. Great weather, lots of boats and life at the washington. Ready to go again. BTW: blue was landed on a Penn 114 with 40 # mono.

Wow that's a nice haul.
Was this your boat, a friend's boat or a charter boat? I've only been offshore once and that was a day trip from the Outer Banks a few years ago. We were on a 50' boat but it was September; apparently not the time to go if you're looking for calm seas. |
On my buddy's 30' Grady Marlin. We also tried some tile fishing for an hour but came up blank. I had my boat out for the MSSA Tuna-Ment and did pretty well, but my center console is not suited for overnighters at the canyons.
