my 1st YP of 2012

caught a nice yellow perch fishing from shore. little over 11"

i was using a minnow under bobber and there was no action except for catching this one fish. just got lucky i guess.

i was going to keep him as a pet but i think the temp change was probly just too much. 40 to 72+. but you know what they say - all's well that ends well. cleaned and fried him up as an appetizer. delicious!

couldn't add vid to post, so here you go :

Shame he died - be cool to have one in a tank.

Thermal shock is tough on fish. If you try it again - perhaps use an old cooler to transport the fish. Leave the cooler near fish tank so cooler water slowly rises to temperature of fish tank.

Drop a spare thermometer in cooler to gauge when it's time to move the new pet.

YP are one of the prettiest fish to be found in these parts.

Caught him pretty close to the bottom, eh? Very nice!
