Not Exactly a Fishing Report....

....more of a bait sighting.

Last night around 8:45 the bait in the shallows by my house was on fire. Acres and acres of bait moving around and swirls on the surface

Now the bad news....I threw RatLtraps, Small spoons and a topwater lure and got not. one. single. bite.

Catfish maybe?

I've caught cats on lures here at the house, but that was before there was any bait to be found.

Such a beautiful day.....Hopefully I'll be out in my kayak by 5:30.

Or snakeheads, they love the topwater bite and are everywhere in the bay by seeing and reviewing the snakehead pages

I guess that's possible. Doesn't seem like their normal habitat but maybe they were heading upriver to settle in for the summer. With the salinity being so low the snakehead population is poised to grow at a rate we haven't yet seen.

The answer......

....So I was out on the pier again this evening.

8:45 the water around the pier starts to boil; lots of surface breaks.

The big cat rod with some stinky bait on it bends in half.

Hell yeah......best pullage I've had this year.

Then after 2.....of course the rain comes. Oh well.
