You just never know with me

Watched the weather for the week and Wed just looked perfect. We have been doing well at the bridge (livelinning) and off Ches. Beach (trolling).

Fishing north of the bridge has been so bad I pulled the boat from my wet slip (Bodkin Creek) and have been fishing by trailering south.

So Wed. we headed to Ches. Beach and headed to the Sharps Island area. We found small liar birds working and trolled around them only picking up small (14-17 in) rock. Caught LOTS of small fish but decided to head south to the False Channel area.

Looked inside the Choptank and saw all the boats bottom fishing for spot. After they filled their livewells, they headed to the FC to liveline. We followed and trolled around the area. We picked up a single 20 inch rock and didn't see the boats catch anything much bigger while we were there.

I said "pick em up" and headed back north. When I rode past our original destination, Lou said, Where are you going. I said, I'm headed someplace I always wanted to go by water. Lou said, I never know where we are going to wind up when I fish with you.

We have been doing well in the late afternoon and early evening, so I needed to buy some time. The day was getting hotter than I thought it would, so we slipped into Knapps Narrows and tied up so we could hit the tiki bar at Bay Hundred. It wasn't open, so we hit another "pub".

We sat in the shade, sipped a few beverages (I only had 1 beer), and enjoyed the breeze.

When we left, we headed back toward Ches. Beach. I think the motion of the boat and the motion from the beers canceled each other out, giving Mark a stable platform, he spotted some birds working through his binoculars.

Here they were!!! The first pass through the comotion, we had several rods go down. These fish were a better grade of keepers, with some blues mixed in. We made a few passes and picked up enough fish for the day and headed back to clean fish at Ches. Beach.

The boat goes back in the slip next week. The wife misses riding down and taking a short ride around sunset. I hope the fishing improves around Rock Hall and the tripple bouys. I will be there soon.
