DCMSSA: April 4, Capt Greg Buckner, Trophy Trolling

The big fish are here! The DC Metro MSSA chapter will meet Wednesday April 4, 7:30pm at Steamers Seafood house in Bethesda. Relax, enjoy a cold beer, and good food while we discuss all manner of saltwater fishing topics. This month’s speaker is Captain Greg Buckner ( www.misssusiecharters.com )! Most of us have fished with Greg on the Miss Susie on one of our chapter trips. Greg has supported the DC MSSA since the chapter’s inception, and will be sharing many of his tips and insight on trolling for big spring rockfish. Greg will also bring some parachutes, hooks, swivels etc for sale. Bring a guest to their first DCMSSA meeting and I will buy you a beer. Learn how to catch the big ones and then Sign up for the spring tournament May 4-6 here: www.MSSA.net We will have raffle tickets available at the meeting also. Proceeds will fund and support the 2012 DCMSSA Kids Day event in the fall. Drawing will be at the May meeting. The prize has an estimate value of $1,200 and includes the following: All expenses paid trip for up to 4 with Captain Walleye Pete Two St Croix light tackle jigging rods Two Shimano Stradic spinning reels spooled with 15# power pro Two light tackle jigging packs with lures, hooks etc As usual at the meeting, we will be sharing fishing reports and tips. We will discuss all manner of fishing. Door prizes will be fantastic, including some very nice gear. DCMSSA meetings are free and open to all. Don’t forget about the year-long DCMSSA rockfish contest. The member who catches the biggest rockfish in 2012 will win $200 cash. Picture of the fish with accurate length info must be emailed to Zach Karr (president@dcmssa.org) within 24 hours of the catch. All locations and all fishing methods qualify. You must be a DCMSSA member in good standing to participate. The current leader is Bil Schmitzer with a nice fat 31.5” rock.
