Baltimore Boat Show........argh

Went today.

They had some(very few) good boats (one's with rod holders on 'em)...but small show...real small...

Can't say much......

Beers are only $6 bucks.

$6.00???? OUCH!!!

I'll tolerate $4 beers, but I won't enjoy them at that price. I won't pay $6 for a crappy domestic beer.

I worked this show a few years ago when I sold boats part time and it was a lot of fun....big show back then too.

I still enjoy the Annapolis show though....and I can usually find a friend, family member or neighbor that has privileges at the Fleet Reserve Club to go with me. :D

I just got back from the boat show. Actually; I spent more time in my neighborhood "watering hole" than the show. Lou and I took the light rail (always a wonderful experience) to the show to avoid the parking fee. We spent two hours at the show looking at everything. I was really disappointed that the GEICO girl was not there this year. I think the size of the show is a statement on the whole boating industry. I'm waiting for Obama to put in a new cash for clunkers program that includes boats before buying another boat. I did see my embroider there and felt sorry that she had to pay for a space when there wasn't much foot traffic. I bought a nice towel with a rockfish on it for $7. Now everyone on the boat will want to use it and have it full of slime and scales.
Then we hit my local bar for some beers and a cheesesteak sub. It was the best part of the day. 5th (Marty)

Your local watering Hole isn't Howard's by chance?????

I love that place.

I hear that anyone looking to buy a new boat is going to factory direct at Judge Yachts anyhow :D :p

I also hear Bill is waiting for O'Malley to offer a no sales tax program for boats built in Maryland in order to stimulate the economy

I went to the show briefly yesterday. Only thing I bought was a MSSA T-shirt and hat. I will say that the hat is sweet!

Now that my dad retired he practically lives at Howard's (Ok, so when he was working at Northrop he still just about lived at Howard's :D ) and my brother and I go in there all the time. We're the family that walks hunched over in there (like a lot of others I guess.) as I'm the shortest at 6'2.

We were caught out guard that the boat show is in the annex building - not the larger convention center.

Still fun , tough times for boat dealers right now. I wish I had taken my camera. There was a big sign - something like - affordable boat area. If you lined it up just right , the little kid's paddle boats were there :D.

I am going back on Sunday to buy Baldzilla a MSSA hat :D

I'll wear it with pride (not for MSSA, but because I'll wear anything that's free :) )...Skin cancer is a very serious situation and it's hard to protect so much blazing whiteness...

Did not make the trip

With all the doom and gloom about the economy I decided to stay home yesterday and not make my usual trek to Baltimore for the Boat Show. Oddly enough, I did the same thing with the Fishing Expo last weekend. I have decided to put my entire winter fishing budget into the Earliegh Heights show. I hope they are still having it.

I had a good time with my son. I was looking at the kayaks which are pretty cool. Ron at Tri State said they had sold some boats. That 29 Boston Whaler was sweet and just about gave me wood. Wish there were more fishing boats but still talked to some nice people.

garlien 01-24-2010 05:42 PM

Joe,

Those are the best thoguhts...Nothing really seems to be able to beat good ole Earliegh Heights...

Good people, no fuss, cold beer, oysters, good deals...good fun...

I cant wait...Its what makes Valentine's Day special !

Shawn Kimbro 01-24-2010 05:54 PM

Agree - hard to beat the Earliegh Heights show. I always buy more there than anywhere.

Crap! I'd forgotten about the oysters. :D

Looking forward to the show; it was a blast last year.
