We Can All Agree....
The dude in San Diego, claiming his Prius wouldn't stop is completely full of **** and is basking in his 5 minutes of fame, and looking for a payoff, right ???:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
|
I don't know, but...
can someone please explain to me why the people with this issue aren't simply shifting into neutral? Why are the police telling him to jam on the brakes and using the squad car to slow the Prius down...simply shift to neutral and drift to the side of the road, problem solved. The engine might blow, I don't know, but its still better than risking your life and others, driving out of control at high speed.
Am I missing something? |
I'd slow down a Prius, ala Fred Flintstone,:D:D:D:D
|
Guess he could not think fast on his feet to put in neutral and pull the emergency brake.
I tend to believe the story whether it is related to the other Toyota problem or not - wait to hear. |
What is worse are the several class action lawsuits that are working on behalf of toyota owners who are claiming that their current problems have negatively hurt their resale values.
|
He drove over 30 miles and probably had 10 minutes to think about putting it in neutral before the cops finally got him stopped.
I heard part of the 911 call on TV and the person answering his 911 call made that suggestion to him, but I did not catch his whole answer other than he was worried about the car flipping for some reason and something about putting down his cell phone. |
Hmmm..San Fran....driving a Prius.......I bet he had "'pucker factor #10", if'n he was capable of it.....lol:rolleyes:
He should have been ticketed for speeding while talking on his cell phone. And irronically........What is the fine for "Rear ending" a Cop at 90 mph? I'd hate to be rear ended in San Fran. (or anywhere else) Jim |
OK....What would Rex do?
Rex is cruising around in his M911. This dude in his Toy iota needs to be stopped.?!? Run him over, or let him eat your rear tires and shread his Prius to bits (I'm neutral on this). There are other options too.
What if...(not only Rex)... your cruisin' in yer Hummer in San Fran (probably shouldn't use Hummer and San Fran in the same sentence)...what to do? Too many questions..not enough answers.... |
He also could have just turned the car off, then shiftd into neutral not sure why these folks aren't doing that.

I think the give away is the video of him getting BACK IN THE CAR to line it up with the tow truck. If my car just did 90mph with my feet on the brakes I would NEVER get back in that POS:p

Capt. Kirk step aside........ |
So, it turns out the dude had declared bankruptcy. His Benz, Dodge truck, boat, and motorhome had been repo'd.
The Prius was on a lease, and was a couple of months from having to be turned in. McNews says: he hopes to get a replacement car out of this ordeal... Toyota's lawyers should have fun with this one. |

what a loser maybe the clown autta git a job.
|
My personal opinion is, they have an electronics problem that they can't find. If they can't find it, they can't fix it. So they're blowing smoke about spacers in the throttle linkage, floor mat causing the pedal to jam, etc., etc..
|
Different people have reported that the car wouldn't let them put it into neutral .......... this has been reported over and over ..........
|
Brian, it gets better.
This from Forbes.com: (the last sentence is great) Sikes also has a history of filing insurance claims for allegedly stolen items that are slowly coming to light. In 2001 he filed a police report with the Merced County Sheriff's Department for $58,000 in stolen property, including jewelry, a prosumer mini-DV camera and gear, and $24,000 in cash, according to Fox40 in Sacramento. His bankruptcy documents show a 2008 payment of $7,400 for an allegedly stolen saxophone and clothes. For what it's worth, Sikes owned and operated a Web site called AdultSwingLife.com |
Man, that's great.
Brian - Pat on the back, Dude - you called it. |
Saw on the news - they took off the wheels to look at the brakes. According to reporter - the brakes looked OK - not like they had been used against the stuck throttle.
I left an emergency brake on once - ruined the back brakes in about 10 miles. One rotor was warped from the heat. I was only going 55 MPH. I'd bet if his throttle stuck and he really was standing on the brakes - there would be damage to them. |
I'd like to thank the Academy.... etc etc etc....
The real credit goes to my wife. She's been in Workers Comp since we've been married. Ten years ago, she and I would believe ANYTHING..... Ten years later, she has changed my attitude towards mankind 180 degrees. She has seen things that you can only dream of. Watching the video tapes of surveillance of " injured workers" with bad backs hauling a 10 point buck outta the woods, or rolling a 250 on bowling night, is PRICELESS !!!!! Barefoot, thanks for the info, that's great !! Whaata POS !!!! UGGGGG...:eek: |
