Trailer Safety Cables are Junk
1 Attachment(s)
For those of you who are using the nylon coated safety cables, you might want to think about replacing them with Chains. After coming home from the gas station I unhooked the safety cables and one of the cables just broke apart, looks like moisture got in behind the coating. The trailer is 5 years old.

It would not let me upload this pic in my original post

It looks like there was no way of knowing it was going bad. The rubber covering was hiding a potential disaster. Glad you found out now instead of when you needed them for safety.

Agree 100% with you - those cables are worthless. Even new - would they be strong enough ?
I like heavy duty chains ( crossed over to form X ) - beefy S hooks or shackles and huge bolts with lock nuts to secure everything. Hopefully never need safety chains but if I do - want them to be able to catch and hold the trailer tongue. |
Yeah but what about the bigger boat you get when you crash yours while towing? :D

I don't know how that boat floats with that many holes in it. Oops, those are rod holders:D
